5. For a Christian, one of the most incredible truths is that God – the living, eternal God – chooses to live inside of you. God has actually placed His Holy Spirit inside of you.

6. Romans 5:5 “God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.”

7. II Cor. 1:22 “He [God] set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”

8. Galatians 4:6 “God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts.”

9. I Cor. 2:12 We have … received … the Spirit who is from God.”

10. Colossians 1:27 “… the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” “

11. Romans 8:9 “the Spirit of God lives in you.”

12. I Cor. 3:16 “you yourselves are God’s temple and God’s Spirit lives in you.”

13. Romans 8:11 “the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you …”

14. II Cor. 13:5 Do you not realized that Christ Jesus is in you?.”

15. Hebrews 13:5 “because God has said: Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” “

16. Matthew 28:20 “And surely I [Christ] am with you always, to the very end of the age.” “

17. Jesus Christ promised – and the rest of the New Testament describes – that God actually places His very presence in the lives of believers. If you have a relationship with Christ, God Himself lives inside you by His Spirit. “

18. The reality is that although all Christians are indwelled with the Holy Spirit, not all Christians are filled (directed/empowered) with the Spirit. “

19. Ephesians 5:18 “Do not get drunk with wine, which leads to debauchery, instead be filled with the Spirit.” “

20. What does it mean to be “filled with the Spirit”? To be filled implies: - directed - empowered - controlled - yielded

23. How are we filled (directed/empowered) with the Spirit? “

24. CONFESSED SIN Psalm 66:18 “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” “

25. I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins.” “

26. Psalm 139:27,28 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” “

27. James 5:16 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed ….” “

28. A YIELDED LIFE Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship.”

31. The New Testament uses several terms for being filled with the Spirit: walking in the Spirit being led by the Spirit living by the Spirit Key concept: yielding by faith

32. “Now I am going to Him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief …”

33. “… But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.” John 16:5-7
