Background Over 30 million people have been issued new e-passports These contain RFID tags The RFID tags contain personal information

Problem... At a range from 50cm to a few feet a specific RFID tag can be tracked Information on the tag is thankfully encrypted Someone with bad intentions could track someone. It could be used as a bomb detonator

Ethical Implications What to do with those who do not want an e-passport for security concerns Should the money be spent on a different technology? Should those who already have the e-passport be required to change?

Solution A contact-based smart chip could be used Don't worry about it as it is not that serious of a threat
