Conclusion A pixel-based image reconstruction method(PIR) to recover the lost blocks has been proposed. It employs 3 techniques: prediction, rechecking and acceleration. PIR algorithm can efficiently and effectively recover lost blocks, moreover it is superior to SMVQ in more complicated images and lager lost block sizes.
