1
Content and QoS Policies in Multi-domain Heterogeneous Mobile Systems Cristian Hesselman
2
Setting Broadcast applications –E.g., TV channels, e-learning Heterogeneous environment –Various wireless network techs, mobile hosts, administative authorities Related to AAA(ARCH), but no such perspective as yet I’m going to discuss the model I’m using
3
Content Model Channels –ID = source + content Diff channels –For course-grained classes of receivers Quality levels –Perceptual Streams –Encoders + packetizers
4
Infrastructure Model Administrative domains Technology domains Servers Clients App-level gateways
5
Policies To allow domain admins to manage their typically scarce wireless resources Channel policies Adaptation policies Focus on inter-domain roaming Example: client 5
6
Ongoing and Future Work Fine-tune model –E.g., explicitely include the notion of a channel end point Implement a ‘discovery’ protocol –Discover available channels and quality levels –For inter-domain roaming –Maybe based on existing protocols (e.g., SLP) –Incrementally add complexity –Ongoing
