Hong Kong Singapore Sao Paolo Sydney Explain the size and significance of IT as well as our global structure - it is typical for teams to have members all over the world and this results in a very global way of working, e.g. video conferences, teleconferences, reliance, daily calls to other offices

9 IT Challenges Market / Business Regulatory Technology OTC Derivatives
Prime Banking Spreadsheet reduction (SCRAP) Commodities New markets – e.g China Business Process Re-engineering Outsourcing Accounting systems upgrades Basel II Sarbannes Oxley Nearshoring Data Centre Strategy Risk and positions environment integration Adoption of new technology Common components Infrastructure resiliency Fairly self explanatory but further background on the following: Outsourcing – within IT, we have outsourced less than 200 positions out of a global staff total of Senior IT management do not agree with ‘wholesale’ outsourcing but continue to look at very targeted areas where it makes financial sense to outsource. We do not typically hire graduates into these areas. Outsourcing is not something new for large organisations as we outsource roles all the time, e.g. contractors, moves/changes, break/fix, auditing, legal counsel, caterers, cleaners, etc. Nearshoring/Offshoring – not just about cheaper code production. Part of it is to provide lower cost, better standard of living for developers. Other part of it is to plan for ‘redundant’ datacentres, i.e. having more than one data centre in the event of an emergency. Risk and positions – to allow us to create a Risk portfolio to view firmwide information rather than just particular areas. Common components – to create code not in silos but reusable across different areas.
