IT pro’s work raises ethical issues involves privacy. Ex: Should company have right to monitoring employees’ e-mail? Should company have right to log all the websites that employee visits? Should company have right to use screen capture to see what everything display in any machines? Is it wrong to invade employees’ privacy even for company’s protection?

Base on the Mill’s Utilitarianism: Do what ever benefits most people. Ex: The company setup spam email program and successfully block internet virus that might destroy the whole system and cause company lose billion of money and people lose jobs. Base on Utilitarianism, it’s right to check employees’ personal email for the good of the company as a whole.

Base on Kant’s theory: We do anything that is right according to some the moral code Base on Gold Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you According to Deontology, Company shouldn’t monitoring employees’ personal email, log, files, etc. because it is not right to invade people’s privacy.

I think employee should have their own privacy and shouldn’t be monitored by anyone. There are no laws to protect employees’ privacy from the companies. In fact: Many company have legal rights to monitoring over everything in their computers. Would you be ok for someone going through your personal stuff even their intention is not to inquire your privacy?
