jswecop1510041 Review of Fundamental Concepts (FCs) John Swanwick Athens; 15 th October 2004

jswecop1510042 Agenda  Background  Approach from EFQM Review Team  Approach in ECOP  Some things to consider  Approach – group working

jswecop1510043 Background  The 8 FCs are the building blocks on which the EFQM Model is based  Latest review (2005/6) follows those in 1999 and 2003  An education version of FCs exists and is copied to you  An opportunity to input to the Review Team for early November

jswecop1510044 The Review Team’s Approach  What do we need for Europe by 2010?  No prescribed number of FCs  Input from CEOs, ‘Above the Clouds’ etc  Words and concepts due in November for early 2005 publication

jswecop1510045 Approach from ECOP  A lot of reading but hopefully you have ideas ready to input!  Some things to consider from the Review Team

jswecop1510046 Some things to consider  Agility – what does it mean? How is it relevant in education?  C(S)R – more passion, less reactive?  Partnership development – employees as partners, a ‘climate of co-operation’?  Innovation – radical enough?  Others?

jswecop1510047 Way of working  In groups consider a picture of European education in 2010. What are the key features which distinguish then from now?  Present back briefly in plenary  Again in groups, identify any high level changes to FCs likely as a result – new ones, deletions, significant amendments. A big task! – big points only please!  Present back in plenary  Do the conclusions argue for a separate education set of FCs?
