Golden Mile Transport Meeting 22 April 2010

The next evolutionary step for greentomato 2 The greentomato group provides a variety of goods and services with the aim of assisting its clients to reduce their carbon footprints without a dramatic change in lifestyle

The energy problem 3 The UK has an uncertain energy future given - the slowing production of oil and gas in the UK which leads to increasing reliance on overseas sources - low carbon emission targets which need to be met by 2050 - the level of capital required - we are required to double our rate of electricity asset investments to replace systems which are nearing the end of their lifetime Based on CBI estimates %

Small-scale electricity generation 4 - FIT returns - Utility savings - Predictability of utility costs - CRC points - Marketing benefits

The FIT or ‘Clean Energy Cashback Scheme’ 5 A similar system for the generation of heat, the renewable heat incentive, is set to come into force in April 2011  Launched on 1 April 2010  Payments for generating electricity from eligible small scale low carbon energy sources –solar photovoltaic –wind –hydro –anaerobic digestion –micro -CHP  Payable to individuals, households, communities and businesses  Two levels of tariff –generation tariff, payable per kWh generated, regardless of whether it is used or sold –export tariff, guaranteed minimum price payable per kWh that is not used and is sold back to the electricity grid  Tariff is index linked  Tax free for domestic only  Attaches to a system for a guaranteed period of time depending on the technology

Kaohsiung stadium in Taiwan 7 Largest solar powered stadium in the world 50,000 capacity stadium Array is made up of 8,844 solar panels and is 4,552m Generates 1.14 million kWh per annum preventing the release of 660t of CO per year When the stadium is not being used, it provides 80% of the power for the local area 2 2

Transport Electrification of the transport network Solar powered car parks Opportunities for completely zero emission fleets
