It is a Silverlight wrapper similar to the smart part which allows Silverlight controls to be hosted inside of SharePoint Requires Silverlight on the client only Supports Silverlight 1.0 or Silverlight 2 Beta 2 applications

The SilverPart web part is the only thing that is required on the server Silverlight controls are simply uploaded to a Document library and selected from the SilverPart web part The new version is loaded on the next page refresh No IISRESET is necessary Debugging can be done locally on the development machine.

The SharePoint object model or any dll that is not a Silverlight dll cannot be directly used in the control End users must have the ability to install Silverlight on their machine Silverlight 2 is still in Beta testing, therefore there can still be some bugs, and all users controls are not available yet i.e. the ComboBox
