2 Introduction Bacteria are microorganisms which are found ubiquitously in food, soil and water environments. They can either be beneficial or harmful to these various ecosystems, or they may have no impact at all. The use of various types of bacteria in biotechnology demands for their rapid and accurate identification. Therefore, this workshop is aimed to provide hands- on training on molecular techniques for bacterial identification. Objectives To provide participants with the knowledge in nucleic acid- and protein-based techniques for the identification of bacteria. To provide a hands-on experience in the identification of bacteria using polymerase chain reaction (PCR), RFLP and automated DNA sequencing. Participants Members of the scientific community who are interested to learn and gain experience in bacterial identifications through molecular techniques. Accommodations Please arrange your own accommodation.
