Some Observations October 1999 - Learned about RDS-HN WIDeST July 2000 – Developed the concept of WIDeST August 2000 – Engaged RDS-HN in the project October 2000 – Received input from stakeholders December 2000 – Additional input from stakeholders March 2001 – Inaugurated the Website and provided hands-on session to attendees July 2001 – Engaged NGOs in a session to experience WIDeST WIDeST and receive their input. August 2001 – Present to ANDAH conference Since March 2001 the Website has been visited by over 7000 individuals, over 170 have used ponds model, over 85 individual inquiries and conducted 4 chat sessions. 16. A description of content of the WIDeST will be presented By Roberto Tinoco of RDS-HN after the discussion session and coffee at 18:00 – 20:30. RDS-HN has set up a three computer network to demonstrate and provide a brief hands-on experience. We anticipate further developing the quality of content, that is more useful for the NGOs. We plan using the Website for conducting training sessions in the next 18 months. We believe the Web-based model for providing data and information to small farmers is going to be one of the most effective ways for creating an environment leading to self-development in low-income economies.
