Mission, Vision and Goals Vision of the Knowledge Exchange Initiative: The Knowledge Exchange will add genuine value to the activities currently undertaken by a set of key (funding) bodies that have responsibility for information and communications technology (ICT) development in education and research within their nations. Increase understanding of unique political, geographical features in policies, structure, acceptance, etc., regarding ICT support in research and tertiary education in the partner countries. Mission, Vision and Goals Goals of the Knowledge Exchange Initiative: Create a forum for the partner countries to discuss current challenges, share ideas and concentrate efforts and investments, Increase the profile of national research and development activity, Where appropriate, strive to achieve a common infrastructure based on common standards, Be a point of contact for other organizations attempting to coordinate national activities in similar areas. Organization Knowledge Exchange Office (KEO) started 22 August 2005 in Copenhagen – Staff: Program Director, Program Manager, Secretarial Help Office facilities provided by Danish National Library Authority (DNLA – home to DEff) Two Delegates each country selected by the national funding agencies to the Knowledge Exchange Board + Chairperson delegated by hosting country (Denmark) One National Representative chosen by national funding agencies to support KEO. Objectives Initiatives and Activities to Improve information provision & sharing within the member countries on developments, strategies and plans, including projects and new programs, Provide high profile avenue for dissemination to raise profile of national & European research & development in research & tertiary education, Analyze current approaches & outcomes to reduce redundancy, build cooperative output, enhance collaboration, identify and stimulate joint projects, identify & develop best practices, identify & facilitate joint policy and strategy areas,... Objectives (2) Promote collaborative development and implemen- tation of common standards for interoperability (incl. Digital rights management, authorization and authentication, etc. Identify national cultural and structural differences in education and research to achieve greater under- standing of national approaches to such activities and pave the way for future collaboration. Maximize potential for ICT support of education & research in the member countries and identify addi- tional collaboration partners of other countries.
