SAFEGUARD A lesson on Personal Hygiene

Unit Summary Personal hygiene is the collection of practices a person habitually performs to maintain good health. Hygiene plays an important role in looking and feeling physically and emotionally well. Proper hygiene practices can not only protect individual health,

but the health of all people a person may come into contact with. For instance, viruses and bacteria are commonly spread amongst people due to poor hygiene. Children are commonly taught about personal hygiene at a young age so routine practices may develop early in life.

Topics: Introduction of proper personal hygiene Dental care Hair care Smelling clean Physical care

Activities: Students will be grouped by pair and will demonstrate in class the topics to be discussed. Students will make a scrap book or an art work

Students Product Paper-pencil test Students who are grouped by pair will create a jolly song (steps on the topics discuss) will be the lyrics of the jolly song. Students will write on their journal notebook the proper personal hygiene that they perform at home for 5 days.

Possible roles assume in the project scenario Students are expected to become leaders and at the same time followers. Interact Effectively with Others

Targeted standards and Objectives After the instructional segment, the student should be able: To identify the steps on proper personal hygiene.

To demonstrate in class how proper personal hygiene is being done. To create an artwork that will express their feelings at the end of the instructional segment.

Curriculum Framing Questions Essential Question: How does personal hygiene can affect your future? Unit Questions: What is proper personal hygiene? What is dental care? What is hair care? What is physical care?

How proper personal hygiene is being done? Why is proper personal hygiene a vital part of our lives? How can you integrate proper personal hygiene in your daily living?

Content Questions What is hygiene? What is proper personal hygiene? What are the necessary steps for dental care? What are the necessary steps for hair care? What are the necessary steps for physical care?

Assessment Timeline Before project work begins: The teacher will give activities that are related to the topic. Subsequently, questions will be dropped by the teacher that will lead to our topic.

Students work on projects and complete tasks: The teacher will show a video about Proper personal hygiene followed by a lecture, demonstration, groupings (by pair) as a drill on proper personal hygiene.

After project work is completed: The teacher will use an individualize approach worth 20 points on the topics discussed already. After the individualize approach, the teacher will give a ten-item paper pencil tests.

Lastly, the teacher will give enough time for the students to make a scrap book or an artwork that will show their enduring understanding on proper personal hygiene.

GOALS Learn about proper personal hygiene Find ways to get my students practice the proper personal hygiene not just inside the four walls of the classroom. Learn some strategies for helping other students to share what they have learned on the instructional segment.
