2
Executive Summary We worked with New Hope Ministries to design and build a database that would better suit their needs. These needs include reducing duplicates and automatically generating reports.
3
Project Introduction New Hope Ministries is a non-profit organization with Branches in Dillsburg, Mechanicsburg, and Dover New Hope provides services to people in need and has several after-school youth programs. Using an older database that was took time to create reports. Had needs for more efficient database.
4
Planning Phase Milestone 1 Initial meeting with New Hope Discussed problems Determined Needs and Wants Estimated Scope of Project
5
Analysis Phase Milestone 2 “As-Is” System Improvements “To-Be” System Design BPI SRS and Use Cases –Increments
6
Design Phase Milestone 3 Structural Model –Difficulty from complexity Behavioral Model Prototyping Technology Selection Updated Increments
7
Implementation Phase Milestone 4 Incremental Functionality Increment 1 –CRUD for Clients, Children & Youth, and Family members Increment 2 –Track services, Search Increment 3 –Generate Reports, Calculate Expenses, Calculate Household Income System Testing

9
Impact Will project meet goals?
10
Project Strengths and Weaknesses Strengths –Better understanding of Analysis and Design Process –Good people to work with –Team unity –Organization skills Weaknesses –Scope Creep –Complexity of system –Organizational skills
11
Lessons Learned Start programming/prototyping earlier Expect requirements to change Pick tools you are familiar with Communicate with organization more often Etc.
