Chandra Calibration Status  Recent releases  Current Calibration projects  Cross-Calibration between Chandra and other X-ray telescopes  Revisions to the Chandra calibration web pages

 ACIS time-dependent gain corrections released in April, June and Oct.  HRC-I gain map for 2009 released in June.  HRC-I blank field background image released in June.  HRC-I background spectrum released in June  The ACIS-S4 blank field background files were reprocessed with the latest version of destreak and released in Oct.  The temperature-dependent cti-correction software was posted on the contributed software page in Oct. Recent Calibration Products or Software Releases

Status of ACIS CC Mode Calibration Things to do: 1) Test CC-F mode trap map with HETG/ACIS-S CC-mode data 2) Generate a CC-F mode gain table 3) Generate a CC-F mode QE file for data taken prior to Dec, 2009 (i.e., data that did not include flight grade 66) 11.2 Crab Sco X-1

HETG/ACIS-S CC-F Mode Observations of X-Ray Bright Sources HETG GTO target GX13+1

Updates to the HRC-I Effective Area The HRC-I QE has recently been updated to improve the cross-calibration between the HRC-I and other Chandra detectors using HZ43, PKS2155-304 and G21.5-09. 11 Updates to the LETG/HRC-S First Order Effective Area The next CALDB will contain updates to the LETG/ACIS-S source and background extraction regions and the fraction of events within the source extraction region. Things to do: 1)Revise the HRC-S QE 2)Revise the LETG/HRC-S extraction region for self-consistent cross- calibration

Update to the ACIS-I contamination model Version 9932 will be released as the default ACIS-I contamination model in Dec. 2010. No Changes will be made to the ACIS-S contamination model. Comparison of two ACIS-I observations of AWM7 taken 10 years apart fit with the CALDB andV9932 versions of the ACIS-I contamination model.

Update to the ACIS-I contamination model Cross-calibration of the ACIS-S and ACIS-I contamination models (as of Dec. 2010) using ACIS-I and ACIS-S observations of A1795 taken 4 years apart.

Update to the ACIS-I contamination model Cross-calibration between the ACIS-S and ACIS-I contamination models using two observations of the Coma cluster taken 10 years apart.

Continuing Studies of the ACIS-S Contaminant

Cluster Fluxes – XMM-Newton Cross-Calibrating X-ray Detectors with Clusters of Galaxies: an IACHEC Study (Nevalainen, David & Guainazzi) (astro-ph 1008.2102)

Cluster Fluxes – PN/ACIS

Summary of Cluster and Flux Cross-Calibration between XMM-Newton and Chandra

Cross-Calibration of the X-Ray Instruments Onboard the Chandra, INTEGRAL, RXTE, Suzaku, Swift and XMM-Newton Observatories (Tsujimoto et al. 2010) (astro-ph 1009.2812) G21.5-09

Soft band = 2-8 keV ACIS-S3

G21.5-09 XMM-Newton

G21.5-09 Cross-Calibration

Chandra/Suzaku Cross-Calibration PKS 2155-304

Revisions to the Calibration Web Pages
