Information Society Technologies in the 6 th Framework Programme, Warsaw, Nov. 25-26, 2002 E-Colleg project IST-1999-11746 Basic Collaborative Infrastructure: ASTAI® one user multiple users one machine multiple machines one domain multiple domains one environment multiple environments local network internet simple workflow coupled workflow nested workflow Complex design environments usually consist of a large number of tools, often under responsibility of different people. ASTAI® helps to organise the team work, to keep track of design states and to exchange data and other information safely between partners and as automatic as possible

Information Society Technologies in the 6 th Framework Programme, Warsaw, Nov. 25-26, 2002 E-Colleg project IST-1999-11746 z The trend towards more co-operative model of engineering that encourages outsourcing of jobs and tasks around the globe. Companies no longer consider distance as a barrier for co-operation or establishing new start-ups z IP-based system design offers better model for engineering collaboration Conclusions Global perspective Central Europe IP Provider perspective Outsourcing by large companies - a major chance for CE SMEs Adoption of new e-business models and standards are key to success in development and delivery of IPs Requirements: access to high bandwidth networks (at affordable cost) and advanced collaborative infrastructures
