The Government The Government gets its money to spend on schools, hospitals, roads, the army and welfare from people who are working or businesses paying their taxes. Why does the Government want you to work So…… If there are less people on welfare it costs the Government less money. Also if you go to work you pay tax and that gives the Government more money to spend Baby boomers – the population of Australia is getting older and as that happens it is costing the government more and more to look after them.
