DemoSat Environments & General Requirements DemoSat Training
2
- Reach ~32 km (100,000 feet) -Size varies typically no bigger than 20 cm cube -DemoSat mass ranges from 1 kg to 5 kg -Total flight not to exceed 25 kg -Faced with extreme engineering and environmental challenges - Mach I, -80 C, Condensation, Impact, vacuum Environments:
3
- Launch is usually calm - 1,000 to 1,500 feet per minute ascent rates Environments:
4
- Discovering that after burst extremely violent - Must take this into account when designing - Or else Environments: Click here for a Flight Demonstration
5
- Near landing is usually better until impact… Environments:

- Near landing is usually better until impact… Environments:
7
- Impact at nearly 2,000 feet per minute Environments:

-In Colorado, we work with a company called EOSS or Edge of Space Sciences -EOSS is non-profit organization -Total Launch cost $300-$500 -They have many launch sites around the state -Have the experience, equipment, and connections EOSS: www.eoss.org

EOSS Requirements: 1200 gm latex balloon 1.8 m diam parachute EOSS Cutdown / CW Beacon EOSS GPS & telemetry 4x CU BalloonSat s spaced 12” 2.4mm braided Dacron line Anti-abrasion bushings, 3.6~5.5 mm ID, top and bottom. Figure-8 knots, top & bottom. Eyebolts >5mm ID Preferred Alternate Balloonsat, <10 cm, <500 gm

- Total mass will be a major concern for DemoSat - It is important that all mass budgets are met - Flight string cannot exceed 25 kg. - Should have identification on DemoSat - Name / Organization - Contact # - Warning, “Do Not Disturb. Please contact first” General Requirements:
