2. Starting Smalltalk Double Click on ‘Application Explorer” Double Click on ‘All” There should be two files labelled: SmallTalk Remove SmallTalk Install Double click on the first, then on the second. Go to Start – Programs – SmalltalkIMC to run the program.

3. The First Window When this window appears, you are ready to start your Smalltalk session. Do not do anything to the text in this window, it is just information. Click on File – New Workspace

4. Starting a New Workspace This window appears Type in Session1 New Drag the cursor over the text, and right-click. Select Do it

5. The Smalltalk PieEater Control Screen This control panel allows you to send massages and interact with PieEater objects. Click on Start

7. Working in the PieEater Environment Select Pie1 Click on:  Red  Walk (5 times)  TurnRight (twice)  Walk (4 times)

8. The Smalltalk Environment You will have separate “environments” (grids) for each Smalltalk object (PieEaters) You will communicate with these objects via messages. These can be buttons or text. You will need to specify which object is being given instructions. You will need to ensure that the object can understand the instructions.

9. Summary: The Smalltalk Workspace Starting a New workspace: Select File – New Workspace Adding Text: Type in, it is a text editor. Saving:Select File – Save Opening:Select File – Open Executing: Select the Text, right click, Do it
