1 July 5, 2007 TJRMICE B1+B2 Only1 MICE Running with B1 and B2 Only Tom Roberts Illinois Institute of Technology

2 July 5, 2007 TJRMICE B1+B2 Only2 Background The PSI Solenoid will be delayed, as will Q4-Q9 The question arises: Is it worthwhile to run with B1 and B2 only? The answer depends in part on the achievable rate

3 July 5, 2007 TJRMICE B1+B2 Only3 Description This simulation uses a model of the secondaries from the target, based on a G4beamline simulation of proton interactions in the target. The model includes: p, pi+, pi-, mu+, mu-, e+, e-, gamma; neutrons are omitted. Q1, Q2, Q3 are present but turned off B1 and B2 are set to the same momentum, 440 MeV/c (center of the pi+ peak) NOTE: I have since learned that B2 cannot go that high in field. ProtonAbsorber is removed TOF0 and TOF1 are in their standard positions Cherenkovs are present in an old position

4 July 5, 2007 TJRMICE B1+B2 Only4 Assumed Layout This proton happened to exit B1 at the wrong angle. The white line is the beam centerline.
