4. Old Royal Naval College History King Henry VIII’s favourite Palace The birthplace of Elizabeth I Baroque buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren late 1600s, completed around 1750. Originally a hospital for retired seamen, it closed in 1869. Became a Royal Naval College in 1873 until 1998. One of the top 20 film locations in London. Films e.g. The Mummy Returns, Tomb Raider, Shanghai Knights, The Four Feathers etc. 4

5. 5 Historical Greenwich Greenwich Park A Royal Park, 183 acres. Will hold the 2012 London Olympic Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon events The Royal Observatory – at the top of the park. Contains exhibits on the search for longitude and latitude, history of time + navigation. You can also straddle the prime meridian line. National Maritime Museum – tells the story of Britain at Sea and contains Nelson’s coat when he was killed, complete with the bullet hole that killed him. The Queen’s House – contains a selection of the Museum’s fine art collection. Cutty Sark – Victorian ship built to be the fastest tea clipper. Now in dry dock being restored with the help of one of our research groups.
