5 Network Diagrams  Include the following:  Cut sheets  Labeling schemes  Wiring diagrams  Type of cable  Etc.

6 MDF & IDF Layouts  Physical layout of closets  Rack placement  Wall outlets  How are the closets locked  Who has access and why

7 Server & Workstation Configurations  Detailed configuration specs for each server and workstation  Make and model of computers  Serial numbers  IP address  MAC address  Subnet Topology

8 Software Listing  Lists of standard and special software  Installation details for each piece of software  Includes operating system software and application software

9 Maintenance Records  List of repairs  Allows some ability to predict possible future problems with existing hardware and software

10 Security Measures  Soft Security  Passwords  User rights  Firewalls  Physical Security  How are MDF and IDF locked?  Who has access to rooms Why?  Security cables and alarms

11 User Policies  What is and what is not permissible  What the consequences are for violating any of the policies

13 Important!!!!  Documentation needs to be continually updated.  OR ELSE  documentation will not have a great deal of relevance to current network
