8 HR Stakeholders HR is responsible to many different stakeholders – Management – Employees – Unions – Regulatory agencies (for example, EEOC) – Shareholders Must balance needs/desires of multiple stakeholders

9 Case Discussion Read Toyota article What is causing Toyota ’ s quality problems? Are these problems that can be addressed by HR? If so, how?

10 For next class Read Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 pages 40- 56 – How is the strategic approach to HR different from the functional or transactional approach? – How do HR and firm strategy connect? Select top 3 dates/topics for the “ updating ” presentation (see website for list)
