Example 1 Other teaching tools: textbooks, and the basic blackboard. Video is a relatively new option for the language teacher. One technique is silent viewing. The students view a sequence, for example of a couple checking into a hotel or ordering a meal in a restaurant, and them attempt to generate an appropriate dialogue for the scene. Example 2 Teaching ESL in a non-English speaking country Keep students in touch with English First asked students to bring in a recorder and a song; Second put some blanks in the lyrics on the tape and let them take the copies home try to listen to that song anywhere possible.
