2 1. Stuck  The church is immature: o vs. 12 says, “You need milk, not solid food.” o 1 Cor. 13:11 says, “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.” o Hebrews 5:14 says that we can’t even distinguish good from evil 1. Starting to Change  Training is essential for change to take place o Hebrews 5:14 says, “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”  We face two problems: o 1 st, We have become consumers of God instead of disciples of Christ  But our marketing has not improved Jesus 2. Starting to Change o 2 nd, We don’t like the hard work of becoming a disciple  Disciples follow the Master  Philippians 3:12-14 says, “I press on to take hold of that for which Christ took hold of me. One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal.” 2. Road to Maturity  We cannot stand still in our faith – we either are growing or are slipping  Something has to change o 1 st, decide that we are no longer living the way we want to live o 2 nd, decide that we are going to do something about it  We cannot grow up in a day – it takes time – it’s a process 3. Road to Maturity  6 stages of growing up in Hebrews 6:1-3 o 1, repent o 2, grow in your faith in God o 3, publicly identify with Christ o 4, Serve God in the power of the Holy Spirit o 5, Our hope is in heaven o 6, Judgment day is coming  Let’s become Disciples! 3.
