Part I Students will compare two fault areas: –Kobe, Japan –Hayward Fault

Students will individually search the internet for information on either the earthquake in Kobe, Japan or the Hayward Fault. Students will lead a club discussion focusing on the similarity of the two faults and the type of devastation that might occur in the East Bay, based on the destruction of Kobe, Japan.

Part II In small groups, students will search the internet for information on earthquake preparedness. Students will create either a multi-media presentation using PowerPoint or Hyper-Studio, or a multi-page flier using Microsoft Word and Photoshop. Students will make their presentations to the club.
