2 More on previous topics The “weekend problem” We changed the working schedule, but this may cause problems if schedule changes (Alt-T-H) Alternate approach: assign “dummy resource” and change its schedule (Select resource on Resource Sheet, then either Alt-T-H or right click) Splitting tasks Finding and “using” slack (tasks off the critical path) Free slack – delays don’t delay ANY other task Total slack – delays don’t delay project finish date

3 Track progress with MS Project When tasks & timeline are set, save baseline Several alternatives for tracking progress Enter % completed Enter time to complete Enter date completed (more than one is allowed) Review for changes in critical path It is now possible to modify the baseline in Project 2000 But think about why you want to do this! Work-around for Project 98
