IMPLICATIONS Fine and Tchernov. 2007. Science. Scleractinian coral species survive and recover from decalcification. These “naked” polyps are indistinguishable from corallimorpharians “Polyp bail-out”: under stress (including in aquaria), scleractinians can crawl out of their skeletons.
