12. Different requirements for each type Fiction requires more control of event as it is “staged” Where as documentary is not staged and may need to be more ad hoc –Locations may change Usually non studio location so less control –Lighting may change E.g. News report

13. The module is not here to turn you into a camera operator, sound person or director although you will take on these roles during the module

14. Preparation The most important thing is the idea –Then there is the preparation for shooting ScriptingStoryboarding

15. Scripting Outline Starts with an outline of overall scenes to show structure of the full video Broken down into scenes or logical chunks e.g. –By location e.g. Same place for an event –By dialogue People talking over the phone

16. What a script does Describes three basic components –What the scene is External shot, Medieval tower, early morning, c1600 –What the scene means “Dave and Sheila walk out onto the pitch, terrified and excited at the huge crowd cheering for them” –What the scene does for the story This is the flashback of the couple’s first meeting highlighting their best moment which they try and recapture in the final act

19. Group practicals – Groups of three/four Based around creation of a set of videos for use in a promotional video for BIHE A brief will be provided and you will provide –Shooting scripts –Unedited footage shot –Final edited video content

20. This week’s practical You are not shooting a video! You will be scripting the shooting of a “Vox pops” shoot with your fellow team mates As part of the practical you will be asking opinions of BIHE and the CET department

21. You will be set the tasks of: Creating a set of questions for the interview, Scouting potential locations to be used and Working out the running order of interviewer and interviewee
