This year’s project is an addition to last year’s Remote Controlled Home Project Last year’s project was programming a VCR through a remote PC This year’s project is to remotely operate and check the status of a deadbolt using a cell phone This will include adding feedback and sensors to check that status of household items and a cell phone to PC interface
3
Inherited from last year’s group Is composed of an IC8001 Chip, PIC16F877 and Altera EPM7032 Contains a Library of 5000+ IR Codes Sends IR codes Connects to a remotely accessed computer and will be used to send and receive IR codes from the deadbolt
4
SIRCU Via Phoneline Deadbolt Status Infrared Signals Cell Phone IR Sensor/ Electric Door Stop PC Station
5
Cell Phone Interface: telnet or voice prompt Home PC: Software GUI implemented in Java, RS-232 SIRCU connection Wireless: 40 kHz modulated Infrared signals IR Sensor : IR receiver connected to PIC Electric Doorstop: power 16VAC (250mA) Deadbolt Status Unit: combinational logic and an IR diode to send status
6
The SIRCU will be modified for receive operations Construct a deadbolt status unit to relay an IR signal if the deadbolt is locked Construct an IR receiver to unlock/lock the electric deadbolt Achieve proper IR communication between the deadbolt sensor and SIRCU device Operate and check the status of the deadbolt via PC to remote PC
7
SIRCU has been tested, debugged and is now working correctly All system components have been ordered NEXT STEPS: Develop deadbolt status sensor Test IR communication between the SIRCU and deadbolt sensor
