Experiment 1 Please place bags near coat rack Motion in One Dimension

Sign the Attendance sheet Final Checks ensure you have all needed data Get Data Sheet initialized before leaving the Lab. Points to remember!

Part 0: Connection to Course Resources Go to: www.ics.purdue.edu Login with your career account name and password Click on the physics 152 network drive Open the Lab Experiment Folderwww.ics.purdue.edu

Goals n Develop “feel” for motion n Understand how position, velocity and acceleration are related u Observe that the slope of x(t) is the velocity, and that the slope of v(t) … n Make predictions of motion n Use calculus operations to relate x(t), v(t) and a(t)

Part 1: Position vs. Time First, you predict and sketch your Lab Manual motion. Then, you produce actual motion and compare the data you received with your predictions. Repeat this for constant velocity and constant Acceleration. LAB MANUAL SONAR

Part 2: Direct measurement of the acceleration Two independent ways to find velocity (cart on the track): -Using accelerometer (integration) -Using SONAR (differentiation) Compare velocity vs. time graphs

Points to Remember! Your report must be typed Equations may be handwritten Follow the special instructions pg. 25 in the manual for this abbreviated report. Don’t Forget Your MA assignment! Attach Cover Sheet with names of all members of the group. Reports due a week from today in slot across from #149 before 4:30 pm
