Simulating the Cochlea With Titanium Generic Immersed Boundary Software (TiGIBS) Contractile Torus: (NYU) Oval Window of Cochlea: (CACR) Mammalian Heart: (NYU)
2
Immersed Boundary Software Immersed Boundary Method (IBM) –Created in NYU to simulate the heart Can be used on other problems –Hearts, contractile torus, cochlea, sea urchin embryos, blood clots Existing software are parallel or generic (not both). None on distributed platforms. Need a generic distributed implementation TiGIBS is a library that scientists can use for writing IBM simulations.

TiGIBS API Boundary represented by lists of fiber points Fluid represented by rectangular lattice Fiber points exert forces onto fluid lattice Fluid lattice solves for velocity using the forces Fiber points move according to the velocity of surrounding fluid cells Initialise a simulation. Register fiber points to a simulation. Advance a stimulation step. Return the fluid velocity and force lattice as a distributed array. Return fiber points position and velocity. IBM overview
