9. Customs and Immigration - 1 This includes all documentation required for international flights arriving or leaving the State, i.e. to do with passengers and freight on a flight Customs On arrival Transit flights – export clearance of goods from airport of departure Other flights – export clearance if requested Flights originating in an Infected Area - two copies of General Declaration Discovery of infectious illness on board – two copies of General Declaration Two copies of manifest for any cargo unloaded Two copies of manifest for any stores unloaded The pilot in command is responsible for presenting the aircraft for inspection with cargo intact and duplicate cargo manifests at the examination station On departure Two copies of manifest for cargo or stores to be loaded The pilot in command is responsible for obtaining Customs authorisation for loading the aircraft at the examination station and applying for export clearance of any goods loaded.

9. Customs and Immigration - 2 Aircraft in Transit Export clearance as above if transit flight departs within 24h with all cargo and passengers on board, otherwise follow the On Departure procedure. NOTE. All international flights should use an airport with Customs facilities. Under EU regulations this is no longer strictly the case but there are security considerations that are becoming increasingly important. Emergency Landings The pilot in command must contact Customs and the Gardai immediately if an international flight has to land at a non-customs (or immigration) airport. He/she should prevent passengers or crew from contacting anyone on the ground unless their safety is threatened All baggage and cargo must remain on the aircraft unless there is a risk of it being damaged (e.g. by fire) if it is left onboard.

9. Customs and Immigration - 3 Immigration Requirements Passengers Only require a passport or other identity document (photo i/d) if flying from one EU country to another. Most nationalities do not need a visa if arriving from GB or the UK and staying for less than 3 months in the State Visitors arriving from Africa and S. America, or from an infected area elsewhere, must have a smallpox vaccination certificate Flight Crew Flight Crew who have a passport, crew licence or crew member certificate do not need a visa
