1 Conservation Biology On the Colorado Plateau

2 Purpose: To provide an organization linking the region's widely dispersed scientific community, and others interested in the study and conservation of the Colorado Plateau's living resources.

3 Functions: Networking ~ Creating a connected community of practicing Conservation Biologists Communications ~ Providing a voice for CB with media, elected leaders, students, and the general public Organizing ~ Linking individuals working on pressing issues, often in isolation, so that their work can be better coordinated and more effective in influencing policy and management Synthesizing ~ Providing expert opinion and review on pressing conservation issues

8 Issues to tackle continued: 7. Noxious weeds – impacts & control 8. Correlating biodiversity conservation with the toll of wilderness designation (esp. in Utah) 9.Impacts of recreation 10. Conservation issues regarding Native Americans and land management issues (such as Peabody Coal, mining on the San Fransisco Peaks)
