1 My name is Natasha King. I was born in Waco, Texas and raised in Dallas, Texas. I am also a veteran of the United States Army. I served four years active-duty and ended my time in service as an Engineer Sergeant. During my military career, I was able to do a bit of traveling to some foreign countries. My first tour in the military was a two-year tour in Miesau, Germany. I also had the opportunity to visit Paris, France, Mallorca, Spain, and Westminster-Abbey, England. My second tour in the military was stateside, in Fort Polk, Louisiana, where I spent the remainder of my four-year term. My term in the military afforded me the discipline and maturity I now possess. From this experience, I also gained the willingness and outstanding ability to learn and adapt to new things. After my military career, I took a position as an Investigative Reporter where I learned to investigate potential employees’ personal backgrounds. While in this position, I was accepted to Texas A&M University- Commerce, and am currently a full-time student majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. My Long-term goals are to land a very interesting and supporting career after graduate school and to some day own my own veterinary hospital. Short term, my goals are to achieve academic excellence and to be an outstanding student by leaving my mark of existence on everyone and everywhere I have been. I also plan to graduate with honors from Texas A&M University- Commerce, and to be accepted to Texas A&M University-College Station for graduate school.

2 Texas A&M Commerce is planning and getting ready so that the 2006 DTA National Convention is a huge success. NOTE: If you find any interesting articles in the field of agriculture please sent then to stdnde11@shsu.edu so that they may be made available for everyone. The Sam Houston chapter participated in Homecoming events and the Ag Department walked away winners of several categories. Mark your calendars: National Convention will be held March 19-21 Many chapters are starting fund raisers for travel to National Convention. What is your chapter doing? Have a fun and SAFE Halloween

3 The semester is well under way and I hear that fall is in the air, though not here in Texas yet. I hope everyone’s inductions went well and I encourage you to encourage others to join the organization, or strive to meet the qualifications. Also begin thinking about National Convention in March. We hope to see as many chapters as possible attend. Nicole Edmonson National President Don’t Forget Check out the website!!! @ www.fhsu.edu/agriculture/natdta www.fhsu.edu/agriculture/natdta To submit Form 40’s after every meeting (ASAP) so that your chapter can be included in the newsletter.
