3. Ready to use the online waste form? Go to our webpage at www.ehs.unc.eduwww.ehs.unc.edu Make sure you have an ONYEN and a valid password, if not, go to, https://onyen.unc.edu/cgi-bin/unc_id/services https://onyen.unc.edu/cgi-bin/unc_id/services Go to Environmental Affairs, click Waste Disposal, click Online Waste Pickup System (Or click Chemical Waste pickup under Quick Links)

5. Type in your ONYEN and Password

6. Choose “Make New Request as PI”

8. Fill out all areas of the form Choose building type in room number

9. e-510 form Choose liquid, solid or gas Type in PH, put 7 if not acid or base Chemical Constituents must equal 100% Special pickup instructions can be written inside the notes section

11. Review your form Please confirm that the form is filled out fully and correctly If correct, press the confirmed button at the bottom of the page

12. After you submit your form First you will receive a confirmation by email that EHS has received your e-510 form I will add regulatory information to your waste form and approve it The approved form will arrive in your email as a hyperlink that you open, print, and put on your container You can expect your waste to be picked up the week after you sent in your form

Miscellaneous waste types - Ethidium Bromide waste- http://www.ehs.unc.edu/pdf/EtBr.pdf http://www.ehs.unc.edu/pdf/EtBr.pdf -Sharps-For chemically contaminated sharps, use a metal container, and when full put the lid on and it can be simply tossed in the regular trash with the wording, “SHARPS,” on the outside. If your sharps are contaminated with Bio- hazard materials, also use a metal container. Autoclave tape should be placed over the biohazard symbol in an "X" prior to autoclaving. The metal container can then go in the "autoclaved waste" containers or regular trash. It must also have,” SHARPS”, written on the outside. Radioactive contaminated sharps are the only sharps that go in poly containers. If they are contaminated with P32 for example, place the full, sealed, poly container in the dry waste radioactive box for P32.
