2 Antiterrorism and Emergency Assistance Program Grant Money from the Department of Justice Available to the American Red Cross

3 Hypothetical Situation (Similar to the Oklahoma City Federal Building Bombing or the World Trade Center Attacks)  Money in this program is not available until an act of violence or terrorism has occurred. The amount available is undetermined until the event.  In this case the grant proposal will be prepared to the maximum extent possible, only the details of the specific event will need to be filled in.  Although it is impossible for the Red Cross to predict an act of terrorism and violence. The Red Cross no doubt has plans to deal with specific disasters, having fund sources identified just makes good sense.

12 Information Requirements in your Letter of Request   Type of crime and description of the criminal event.   Identification of the lead law enforcement agency conducting the investigation.   Estimated number of victims affected by the crime.   Description of the applicant’s role in responding to the victim population since the date of the incident.   Description of services that this funding will support and how these efforts will complement services already in place or will respond to an unmet need.   The amount of funding requested and the timeframe for support.   Description of outreach and coordination with other public and private entities during the process of preparing the request for assistance. 13 Summary  While this plan currently has no detail it is well known that the American Red Cross is uniquely capable of responding to a crisis. The Red Cross already has in place many programs that will move services to an area quickly and systems are already in place to integrate with other agencies providing relief. No other agency can make the same claim of service.
