As identified in the next slide the base plate will represent the wall where the cables make a transition from one liquid to another. The base seal o-ring will be the seal for the main attachment to the wall. The plate 1 base seal will contain the o-ring groove for the base plate seal and on the opposite side will be the surface for the cable seal o-ring to mate. The plate 2 cable seal will contain o-ring seats on both sides, the seat is tapered to promote better clamping action. Cable o-ring 2 may not be necessary but it is added assurance that a good seal will be made. (belt and suspenders) Clamp plate 3 will be the mating surface for o-ring 2 and carry the initial load of the clamping bolts. Three will be made for examples and extensive testing, for the project the configuration can be changed for better clamping and space allocation. This design is easy to fabricate and primarily for proof of theory.

This picture is not very clear but for MiniBooNE we became very proficient in making splices in for submerged cables.
