Key details Structured programme that lasts between 12 to 36 months Based on a project of strategic importance Graduates (Associates) are recruited and employed by the University of Wolverhampton but based, full-time, at a specified partner location Academic support is provided for two days per month Grant includes a training, equipment and travel budget Preparation time required to compile initial outline, then the main application

Programme budget For a two-year programme: Associate employment cost£54,000 Academic and secretarial support£21,000 Associate development£ 4,000 Equipment£ 3,000 Travel£ 4,500 TOTAL£86,500 Typical annual cost to an SME = £17,300 +VAT

University KTP activity Currently have 30 live partnerships Over 10 potential partnerships being written Nationally ranked 3 rd most successful KTP University Regionally ranked number 1 Responsible for a third of all KTP’s in the Region

Examples Fairfield Displays Establish a professional design capability in the company. Review products, materials and markets to develop a new strategic design policy and new innovative display products. Entec International Establish a fully integrated supply chain management system that worked across, and interfaced with, all internationally- recognised operating platforms, providing international growth opportunities.

Shorter Knowledge Transfer Partnerships Pilot supporting 37 projects running in West Midlands 10 to 40 weeks programme Aims to address short-term tactical issues Can act as a stepping-stone for organisations who have not worked with a University before Can stand alone, lead in, work in parallel with or follow on from a Classic KTP 60% subsidy for first time SMEs - 40% for non-SMEs Full cost =£950 per week, SMEs pay £380 per week
