31. 2009 LGGP Survey Questions *If you didn’t attend the LGGP, can you please state why? Couldn’t afford to pay for the extra weeks accommodation or the programme itself Extra cost and extra week off holiday where I was working/ earning money to come Iron Maiden was playing in Auckland on the Friday! I thought your parents had to come with you and they couldn’t so dismissed the idea of coming I read that in previous years there had been over 1,000 students attending it, and as I am shy that put me off Didn’t realise exactly what it was, but now wish I had attended I went to high school in Palmy and I didn’t think I’d need to, but I kinda wish I had now – it sounded really good

32. What were your expectations for the LGGP and were these met? Yes, meeting people, doing lots of fun stuff – hell yeah! I thought we would do more Hall activities, but it was good fun It was a bit boring, but good to make new friends before the semester started. Learn more about schedules / timetables / classes – expectations were met I expected more social events in the afternoon that did not cost money – like games and such I like how I could meet other international students first I expected it to be boring, but it turned out to be loads of fun! It was great, could of had a few Hall events during to get closer to Hall residents

34. The Future of the Programme In 2011 a LGGP of some form will be rolled out on all three Massey University Campuses. In 2011 5% of Government funding will be tied to the success rates of students and indications are that this percentage may increase over time. In 2011 the Government has stated that students will need to pass at least half of their enrolled programme each year to continue to be eligible to a Student Loan
