Create Column
23
Creating Columns Columns are automatically established for each quiz, assignment, and graded discussion items when they are created within the course. Use the “Create Column” command to enter a column for which you will manually enter values.
24
Create Column Specify the type of column you would like to create
25
Create Column - Calculated A calculated column –Displays the numeric result of a formula that you create for that column. T –Formula can reference any other columns that contain numeric information (numeric columns, quiz or assignment columns). Example: –“Total Points” for the course
26
Creating the Formula for a Calculated Column
28
Creating the Formula for a Calculated Column – Total Points Click on ‘Sum’, since you want to total points from various activities to compute total points.

34
Creating the Formula for a Calculated Column – Total Points Formula is ‘closed’
35
Creating the Formula for a Calculated Column – Total Points Scroll down and click on “Save”
36
Create Column – Letter Grade Computes a letter for each Student, based on the values of another numeric or calculated column. –E.g., course grade computed as a percentage of Total Points. –You can edit the numeric ranges that determine which letter grade is assigned.
37
Create a column to which you will add scores manually –Example: Group Participation grade Note: When possible use the WebCT tools that automatically create grade book columns (e.g., Quiz, Assignment, Gradable Discussions) to avoid having to manually enter scores. Create Column – Numeric
38
Column into which you will manually enter a brief amount of data Data can be either alphabetic or numeric or a combination Data cannot be used in formulas Example ?? Create Column – Alphanumeric
39
Create Column – Text Column into which you can enter an extended amount of data (Sentences, paragraphs) Data can be either alphabetic or numeric or a combination Data cannot be used in formulas Example ??
40
Create Column - Selection Create your own columns in the Grade Book into which you will enter specific types of information manually. You create a “selection list” that defines the values that can be entered into the column. Column then allows you to select from a drop-down (selection) list of one or more values to describe or grade Students. You can create the values and determine the order in which they appear in the list. Example ???
