7 PATTIES = FOCUS POINTS Main body of your paper §Use key words §Use key phrases Patty #1 = first focus point Patty #2 = second focus point Patty #3 = third focus point §Make sure focus points are not to similar to each other.

8 PATTIES = EXTRAS Supporting ideas Build a SUPER BURGER §Add mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, etc. §Each patty does not require the same number of extras. §Remember to use key words to make your own sentences.

9 BOTTOM BUN= CONCLUSION A conclusion of the main points of the paper. §Leave out the following types of phrases: My paper has been about… In this paper, I hope… I hope you have enjoyed this paper. The End.

14 BOTTOM BUN = CONCLUSION James Marshall’s discovery of gold at Sutter’s Mill brought thousands of people to California. Although most people did not become rich, the Gold Rush started the settlement of the west coast.

15 INSTRUCTIONS §Using the given resources, research the Lewis and Clark Expedition. §Write main ideas on note cards. §Create a Power Point slide for the top bun, each patty, and the bottom bun. §Write a research paper using the Hamburger Model in Microsoft Word. §Remember to site your resources.
