2 space for science, enterprise and environment National Registry UK REGISTRY OF SPACE OBJECTS –TO COMPLY WITH INTERNATIONAL OBLIGATIONS AND SECTION 7 OF THE OUTER SPACE ACT 1986 SUPPLEMENTARY REGISTRY OF SPACE OBJECTS –WHERE LICENCES HAVE BEEN ISSUED UNDER THE OUTER SPACE ACT 1986, THE OUTER SPACE ACT 1986 (GIBRALTAR) ORDER 1996 OR THE OUTER SPACE ACT 1986 (CAYMAN ISLANDS) ORDER 1998, –BUT WHERE THE UNITED KINGDOM WAS EITHER: –1. NOT A “LAUNCHING STATE” FOR THE RELEVANT SPACE OBJECT, OR –2. WHERE IT WAS JOINTLY DETERMINED THAT ANOTHER “LAUNCHING STATE” SHOULD REGISTER THE RELEVANT SPACE OBJECT

3 space for science, enterprise and environment Practices- UN notification …in accordance with article IV of the Convention on Registration of Objects Launched into Outer Space … notified – but noting that the UK is not the “State of Registry” … notified - the space objects listed ceased to be carried on the Register of Space Objects of the UK

4 space for science, enterprise and environment Practices- UN notification cont. … In respect of the above listed objects, the UK is not the “launching State”, “State of registry” or “launching authority” for the purposes of: –The Liability Convention –The Registration Convention –The Agreement on Rescue and Return …
