How do we develop successful faculty who will contribute to the culture? 1.Improve individual faculty satisfaction with their positions at USC– through support for career advancement and academic success 2.Do what we can to reduce roadblocks to faculty success 3.Invite faculty to fully participate in the growth of USC– providing for a shared sense of responsibility and investment in the culture and academic identity of the institution

Facilitate career advancement for faculty Provide information and tools to increase academic effectiveness Improve access to information about career advancement Development of a Culture of Mentoring Connect with others – allow for leaps in academic scholarship Provide tools to help with performance of teaching and research

USC-Mellon Partnership To make development of a culture of mentoring faculty a high priority. To target groups of faculty that would most benefit from mentoring and to provide access to mentors To recognize and reward schools/departments, and individuals who have developed best practices in mentoring – Provost’s Mentoring Award – USC Mellon Awards – Mentoring Website – Mentoring Survey
