4 Attracting members to stay a member of our unions: also a challenge! - As said before; soldiers base their membership on a cost-benefit analysis. They switch between unions! - However paradoxically members do not actually want to engage themselves in the work of the union - Again imported for us is: what do our members want?

5 Recruitment & Organising Successful recruitment, than finish and relax? Never! -Reporting by the Recruitment Coordinator to the Union Chairman why members end their membership - Our back-office checks why somebody leaves they union. Feedback procedures.

7 Recruitment & Organising Organisation visibility : Stay on top of the market - Recruitment and promotion are closely linked to each other - Use your information position, use national newspapers - We promote and salute in our magazines and on the Websites 35 and 50 years memberships!

10 Recruitment & Organising Retaining existing members, by offering them: - Monthly magazine Oplinie & The Marechaussee with interesting articles for all generations - Yearly a (small) present to all our members in the mission areas (around Christmas) - Development of special working conditions

11 Recruitment & Organising Retaining existing members, by offering them: -Promotion stands by the AFMP/FNV and MARVER/FNV during all major events in the Forces -Chairman and representatives of the board are present at major (military and political) events

12 Recruitment & Organising Retaining existing members, promotion stands during Army Open Days. Open to the public!

13 Recruitment & Organising Offering them at the promotion stand free raffle tickets for all members. They can win a mountain bike.

17 Recruitment & Organising Retaining existing members can be a challenge: - Many members do not want to be involved in Union activities. Why bother when somebody else takes care? - Motivating members and non-members to join union meetings

18 Recruitment & Organising Conclusion retaining existing members, by offering the same menu as to attract new members: - A monthly magazine and interesting articles on the Website. - Organising national meetings with a lunch and motivating agenda for all members! - Media statements and interviews by the chairman on topics in the MOD and during missions

19 4 Recruitment & Organising Conclusion on retaining existing members: - Is the core business of the Union and its internal organisation - Retaining members is part of the recruitment strategy at board level - Monthly status about the fluctuation in numbers of members, reporting to the board

20 4 Recruitment & Organising Conclusion on retaining existing members : The recruitment process is never ending! Last but not least: book your successes! Our motto: “Member service is not part of our job, it is our job! “
