11 Finding the Main Idea in a Reading  The main idea of a whole reading is usually in the first paragraph – the introduction. After that, each paragraph has a main idea, too, often in its first sentence. The last paragraph is the conclusion. It usually has one sentence that “finishes” the reading and might suggest a new idea, too.
