Journals Each day you will have a journal topic. You will have 10-15 minutes to respond to the topic. Your journals entries must be kept in your English notebook. Journals are collected at the end of each term. If you are not working on your journal during the allotted time you will face the consequences. Journals must be 5 complete sentences. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to makeup the journal.

Labeling Each journal should be clearly labeled like the example below: Journal #1 Your Name Date

Journal # 1 On February 4, 1913, Rosa Parks was born. In 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested and fined for not giving up her seat on the bus to a white passenger. Many people admired her for her confidence and bravery. If you had been Rosa Parks in this situation, would have done the same thing? Why or why not? October 17 th Journals must be FIVE sentences! TERM 2

Journal # 2 Use your imagination to write a paragraph describing what it may have been like to participate in one the protests during the Civil Rights movement (such as the bus boycott). October 18 th & 19 th Journals must be FIVE sentences! TERM 2

Journal # 3 Make a list of everything you know about a drama (a play). How is it written? How do you know the setting? How do you know when a character is moving? Try to come up with at least 5 things. October 27 th & 28 th Journals must be FIVE sentences! TERM 2

Journal # 4 Choose one ▫Write about your ideal career. ▫Draw a picture of yourself in your ideal career. November 1 st & 2 nd Journals must be FIVE sentences! TERM 2

Journal # 5 On November 10, 1969, the television show Sesame Street debuted. Some of the more popular characters included: Big Bird, Burt & Ernie, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, and Elmo. If you were asked to create a new Sesame Street character, what type of character would you create and why? Be sure to include the name, appearance and character traits of your new character. November 8 th & 9 th Journals must be FIVE sentences! TERM 2

Journal # 6 November 15 th is “America Recycles Day.” Does your family or school recycle? What is the value of recycling? Why is it such an important habit for people to develop? November 15 th & 16 th Journals must be FIVE sentences! TERM 2

Journal # 7 Write about your 5 day weekend. Remember to keep it school appropriate! November 28 th Journals must be FIVE sentences! TERM 2

Journal # 8 November is “Child Safety & Protection Month.” Think about the different items in your house or classroom that may be dangerous for you or other kids. Choose several of the items and explain how they could be made safer by you or an adult. November 29 th & 30 th Journals must be FIVE sentences! TERM 2

Journal # 9 Today you can write or draw about anything! YAY!! (School appropriate please) Agenda- COPY THIS NOW: ▫Lab Today Type Intro/Conclusion Paragraphs Submit to turnitin.com Work on CREATIVE PROJECT ▫Starting Monday Bring Novel, Green & Gold Cardstocks December 1 st & 2 nd Journals must be FIVE sentences! TERM 2 If you don’t have them everyday you will sign the behavior log!!!!
