First generation college student: a college student who comes from a family where neither parent has a college degree. First generation college student: a college student who comes from a family where neither parent has a college degree.

Demographic Characteristics First generation students are more likely than non- first generation to have the following characteristics: To be age 24 or older To have lower family incomes To be married To live off campus Work full time while enrolled
