5. Student Education: Integrating Hand Washing into Core Curriculum Science: Track germs by studying how they spread using a fluorescent light. Produce a video of an experiment: Oil and water in jar…add dish soap. Math: Create math equations and exercises around how quickly germs would spread under various conditions using a spreadsheet. Social Studies: Use the Internet to research an epidemic from the past and type a paper to discuss how hygiene played a role in the cause or spread. Study and compare different culture’s traditional hygiene practices and create a classroom wiki to share the information. Language Arts: Deliver an informative or demonstrative speech on proper hand washing and record the videos to share with the school.
