2. W HAT IS E STRELLITAS LEARNING P LACE ? An “academic” daycare Pre-K program for students entering dual immersion kindergarten in July of 2012. Kindergarten enrichment for students in P.M. kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year.

4. P RE -K PROGRAM 90% of instruction will be in Spanish just like the Kindergarten model. Kindergarten readiness skills: printing, cutting, coloring, fine motor skills. Spanish vocabulary development: colors, shapes, vocabulary related to thematic content. Academic preparation: numbers, counting, letter names and sounds, phonics, pre-reading skills. Oral language development: songs, chants, poems, movement games. Structured play and free play.

K INDERGARTEN ENRICHMENT PROGRAM 90% Spanish instruction Small group guided reading and writing Oral language practice Homework help A.R. reading time Drill sight words, syllables, letter names/sounds fluency, numbers, etc. Individualized plan based on kindergarten teachers’ recommendations. Transportation to Salt Creek.

6. T UITION Tuition includes fees for materials, school supplies, fieldtrips, and transportation to Salt Creek. $500 paid monthly for children enrolled in the Pre-K program. $400 paid monthly for children enrolled in the Enrichment program. Sibling discounts available.

7. CURRICULUM Estrellitas phonics program. SRA Open Court reading curriculum for Kindergarten. AIMS manipulative based math. AIMS hands-on science program. Thematic based units. Seasonal fieldtrips.

8. 9. CALENDAR Follow the Chula Vista Elementary School District calendar. Start date: July 25, 2011. Last day of school: May 30, 2012.

10. W HY SHOULD I ENROLL MY CHILD IN THIS DI PROGRAM ? Incoming kindergarten data. Priority will be given to native Spanish speakers or students with strong academic skills in Spanish. No guarantee of a third DI class in kindergarten. To keep the integrity of the program classes have to be balanced with Spanish speakers and Spanish learners. Highly likely that you would be granted a spot in the program.

11. W HAT ’ S N EXT ? Fill out enrollment packet. Attach $100 refundable deposit to hold your spot. Space is very limited, license for 7 other children. Possibility of opening up to 13 students, waiting list. Questions????
